Benny’s Chophouse – Chicago, IL
Opened: 2010
Benny’s chose a 100-year-old building with an elevated street entrance to call home. The entry design is lavish and full of focal features to dazzle guests as they approach the stairs to the host. We re-purposed a travertine bar, centrally located wine room, and the exposed ceiling into the design scheme to keep costs down. With owners looking for a modern take on a traditional steakhouse, the classic steak house finishes and fixtures were reinterpreted. An eclectic collection of contemporary lighting replaces classic chandeliers, radiused wood side chairs with rich plum upholstery replace heavy leather club chairs, and abstract paintings on canvas by Chicago’s own Matt Lamb were hung in lieu of gilded framed still-life paintings.
